New Little!

Well, it has been very busy here at the sanctuary lately. There are some new Littles here. They were rescued from a puppy mill. They must have had it pretty bad where they were from the way they look. A couple of them are very scared too. I know what that is like. One of the new Littles is really really thin. The poor girl. Think I'll invite her to come hang out with me in my den later. The two foots have been really busy taking care of all of us. They sure are interesting to watch. The one two foot sat on the floor again the other day and I went running up and jumped on her and sat on her quick then ran back to my den. I think she was just as surprised as I was that I did that. She also gave me some yummy tasting stuff called chicken. Boy was that good! I took a piece right out of her hand. It was so yummy I forgot all about being afraid, but then I remembered and ran back to my den. I love my den so much. It's my safe place, and it's mine, all mine. I arrange it the way I want. I love to fluff my blankies and I've been gathering up all the toys and bones so that I can have them here close to me at all times. The one two foot calls me a character. Wonder what that is? Well, whatever it is, it must be a good thing because she is always laughing when she says it. I've decided that I like the one two foot that calls me a character. Think I'll go see where she is at and what she's doing now.

Could this two foot be different?

Well, I don't know how it happened, but the two foot that sat on the floor with The Littles touched me today. The Littles were all jumping on her and giving her kisses and I got all happy and excited and ran out of my cage and plopped down on my butt next to her and she pet my back. Then I ran away. I was a little startled by it tho. But it was ok. Could this two foot be different from the others? The Littles all seem to like the two foots here. They run and play and sit with them, and give them kisses. And the two foots talk to them. They talk to me too. And it always sounds so nice. Not like what I heard in the past from two foots.

Tonight, when the one two foot got home from a place called work, she held out her hand to me. I wanted to sniff it, but was unsure so I backed up into my den. But I let her look at me. She said she got me something today. Oh, I hope it's a blankie! I love them so!

I'll sit and watch

Well, something just happened that I am not quite sure what to make of it. One of the two foots came into the kitchen and sat on the floor. The Littles looking so happy and are jumping up on her. They look like they are having a good time. They are even giving her kisses. This is very interesting. Even the little black cat, who has become my very best friend is sitting with her. Maybe, maybe, it might be nice to do that. I don't know. They don't look like they are getting hurt. They look like they like it. Hey, hey, Littles! What are you guys doing? Is it ok to come out of my den? Is it safe? I might like to try being a Little. It looks like it's fun. Ok, I'll come out. No, I can't. Well, ok. I will. No, no, I just can't. But it looks like fun. I'll sit and watch.

I think I'm in Love

Well, today was an exciting day around here. I explored around the kitchen and found lots of great things. There's toys and treats and big bowls of water and BLANKIES! I love blankies! They are so nice and soft and cuddly and warm. Every time I get the chance I grab a blankie and bring it into my den. I brough a lot of toys in here too. I think I finally have my den just the way I want it. The two foots put more blankies out and the Littles are all sitting or laying on the right now, but I'll grab them later when they aren't paying attention. Buddy, the pie mouth, came up to me today wagging his tail. He's seems like he's a pretty cool guy for a pie mouth. The pesty one, Beau, came up to me today and barked right in my face. But then he asked me to play with him. We had a pretty good time. He's not so bad. There's a cute little cream colored fluffy Little here. Her name is Paris. She's the littlest Little I have ever seen. But she is really sweet and she plays with me all the time. I invited her to come hang out in my den today and she did. We had fun chewing bones, and playing toys and goofing around. I think I'm in love with Littlest Little Paris. :)

This is a very interesting place

Now that I am a little more awake I am looking around and realizing this is a very interesting place. There are lots of goings on here. I am glad that I am in my nice safe crate. Maybe no one will notice me here. It's kind of fun watching all the Littles run around and acting silly. I used to do that when I was a baby. I guess I don't mind the Littles so much. Some of them are kind of cute. The two foots seem to have gotten my message of don't mess with me tho. Just show a little pearly white and the two foots leave you alone. Works every time! The Littles are all running around the kitchen yapping as usual. They sure are a talkative bunch. I figured out that the pie mouth yappiest one is called Buddy. I'll have to have a word with him about how shrill his voice is. hey, you, Buddy, quit that. You're hurting my ears! Oh, would you look at this one. Another one just came right over to my crate, rubbed on it, barked at me, and then ran off. nervy little guy. That's the one they call Beau. He looks like he is trouble. Gets in everyone's face, barks at them trying to get them to play. How annoying is that? Glad he can't get in here with me. What a pest. Oh, here come the two foots. The one just came over. I showed her my teeth again. She smiled at me. What the? huh? there she goes again, talking to whoever this Nicholas guy is while she is looking at me. If I didn't know better I'd think she was calling me Nicholas. I'm not Nicholas. I'm not anyone. I don't have a name. uh, do I? I'm Nicholas?! Wow. My name is Nicholas! Hey, hey, hey you Littles! I have a name too! Nic! Nic! Nicholas! Nic! Nic! Nicholas! hey, I never had a name before. That's pretty cool. Nic! Nic! Nicholas! I like the way it sounds when I say it. Wow, I have a name! Well, who'd have thought! I have a name! I AM somebody! Hey, Littles, I got a name. Yeah, my name is Nicholas! and I'm somebody after all!

My Name is Nicholas

Before I came here I didn't have a name. I was rescued from people who weren't very nice to me and didn't take care of me. There were a lot of us there and we were all taken away. I don't talk about what happened to me before because it was pretty terrible. I just say that people were very bad to me. Before I came to the sanctuary I would show my teeth to keep people away from me. I never let anyone touch me either because they might hurt me. It was better to keep them away....far away. A couple of times I bit people, because I thought they were going to hurt me and because they scared me. I didn't know it at the time, but they were trying to "rescue" me, whatever that means. I didn't care what they were trying to do, I didn't want any part of it. I think they weren't sure what to do with me. I don't think they planned to keep me or keep helping me because I never did get a name from them. Even with them I was still a nobody. I was there for quite a long time, but I didn't budge on my defense techniques. I bit some of them. They scared me. It was my way of protecting myself from being hurt. Then one day in December they gave me some food in the morning for a change. After a short while I was really sleepy. Next thing I know I am arriving in the sanctuary and there are all these little tiny fluffy things that I think are dogs like me making all kinds of yappy barking noises. They sure are high pitched. Hurt my ears! Why DO they do that? geeeesh. I came to find out all those little fluffy things are called papillons and pomeranians, and are collectively called "the Littles" by the people here. I thought to myself "great" what's with this? I made sure I growled and showed my teeth to let them know not to mess with me. They didn't mess with me. They let me be. Finally, someone who knows I just want to be left alone. But who is this Nicholas they keep talking to? They look at me every time they talk to him. Wonder which one of the Littles he is? Maybe the pie mouth who barks all the time? I will have to study this to see who they are talking to. Sure wish they would stop talking to him when they are looking at me.
